Responsibility

WALT: write about what responsibility means to us in different places

Responsibility is being honest, accepting consequences for what we say and do and being reliable. Responsibility is important because without reliable and honest people the world would be chaos. Being responsible is good life lessons because it shows you how to be a good adult.

Responsibility looks like someone owning up for something they were apart of and accepting the consequences without making a big deal out of them. Responsibility can be shared in different areas like at home. Helping out around the house, without being asked is also being a responsible role model.

What do you think being responsible looks like? What is responsibility to you?

The Maori Gods.

WALT: Write to describe how Nga Atua Maori relate to us.

On Wednesday, we learnt about the Maori Gods. We put the gods in colour/emotions and Miss Fleet asked us how we felt for different things. We stood behind what one suited us.

There are 6 emotions for the Maori Gods.

- Rongo-ma-tane is the bright/happy emotion.
- Maui is the cheeky/hoha emotion.
- Ruaumoko is annoyed and frustrate emotion.
- Tumatauenga is the angry and fuming emotion.
- Tawhirimatea is the lost and no control emotion.
- Tangaroa is the 'do over' and solution emotion.

She asked us questions like; "What do you think about art?" and "What do you think about reading?" Everyone stood by different emotions of the Maori Gods.

The Maori Gods relate to us because we all feel the way they can/could feel. For example, we have all stood by Tangaroa (Annoyed and Frustrated) at one point in our lives and we have all stood by Rongo-ma-tane (Happy and Peaceful). But we change our emotions all the time.

So what emotion are you at with reading or art? What's the god you can relate to right now?

What does Respect mean to you?

What does Respect mean to you?

Respect is something that every child should learn at a early age. Respect is very important because if you want to be treated right, then you should treat others that way too.

Something that our class does as respect is Chromebooks. This year, most of our learning is on Chromebooks. When I look around the class I see people walking with their Chromebooks, so they don't damage them if they run and trip up.

Respect, to me, looks like following an instruction when one is given, looking at the speaker and looking after borrowed things when given to you. That is all just basic respect.

Looking after borrowed things is like when someone loans you a pencil. They would expect it back when you finished using it. Biting or snapping the pencil in half is  disrespect and they wouldn't trust you with their pencils again.

Respect is trusting. Someone trusts you with their equipment you should respect their trust and follow it.

So what is respect to you?
